The Devonian period,408my to 360my, occured during the middle of the Paleozoic era. Throughout this era, life evolved into multicellular forms and the land masses of Earth united to form Pangea.
About 400 million years ago the surface of Earth looked like this. Complex organisms became common. The continents united to form Pangea.
This drawing shows Pangea, a single land mass formed by all the continents long ago.
