Jim Bagian

Jim Bagian is an American astronaut who was born on February 22, 1952 in Pennsylvania. Before he became an astronaut, Bagian was an engineer and a medical doctor.

Bagian became an astronaut in 1980. He has made two space flights and has spent over 337 hours in space.

In 1989, Bagian flew aboard Discovery on a 5-day mission. Bagian became the first person to treat Space Motion Sickness to a fellow astronaut while in space. In 1991, Bagian served on the crew of the Life Sciences Spacelab mission.

In 1989, Bagian flew aboard Discovery on a 5-day mission. He helped deploy the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite and made several biological experiments. Bagian became the first person to treat Space Motion Sickness to a fellow astronaut while in space.

In 1991, Bagian served on the crew of the Life Sciences Spacelab mission. Bagian performed several medical experiments. These included experiments on how microgravity affects the human body.

Currently, Bagian is working on biomedical research. He has taken a leave of absence from NASA.
