Charlie Bolden

Charlie Bolden is an American astronaut who was born on August 19, 1946 in South Carolina. Before he became an astronaut, Bolden was a pilot for the Marines. He has flown over 5000 hours on several different airplanes.

Bolden became an astronaut in 1980. He has made three spaceflights and spent over 479 hours in space.

In 1986, Bolden piloted Shuttle mission 61-C. In 1990, Bolden helped put the Hubble Space Telescope into space. In 1992, Bolden studied the Earth's atmosphere aboard shuttle Atlantis.
