Ronald McNair

Ronald McNair was an American astronaut who was born on October 21, 1950, in South Carolina. Before he became an astronaut, McNair worked with lasers.

McNair became an astronaut in 1978. He has spent over 192 hours in space on two spaceflights.

In 1984, McNair made his first spaceflight aboard Mission 41-B. The crew sent two satellites into orbit during this mission. McNair was killed in the explosion of the Shuttle Challenger on January 28, 1986.
