William Readdy is an American astronaut who was born on January 24, 1952, in Rhode Island. Before he became an astronaut, Readdy served as a Navy fighter pilot. He has logged over 5000 hours of flight time.

Readdy became an astronaut in 1987. He has spent over 672 hours in space on three spaceflights.

In 1992, Readdy flew aboard STS-42. Readdy made his second flight aboard STS-51 in 1993. In 1996, he flew aboard STS-79. The crew docked with the Russian Mir Space Station for 8 days.
