Poetry and Pictures - Weather

August 2009

French painter Claude Monet painted the Field of Poppies in 1873. Monet’s style of painting is called Impressionism. In the sky above the pretty red poppies in this field are some low puffy cumulus clouds.

Poppies
by Sally, age 68, England

Heavens sky scape
was glowing with fire,
high coloured as poppies
ablaze with suns flame ....

compassionate showers
stirred nature alive
so earth would not grieve,
but remember the seeds
of its dead, red flowers.
