Saturn's Aurora

At Saturn there is a lot less plasma to be forced from the magnetosphere down into the atmosphere to create the aurora.

There is not a powerful torus of particles in Saturn's magnetosphere, like there is in Jupiter's magnetosphere. Titan has a smaller atmosphere than does Io, and Titan is farther from Saturn than Io is from Jupiter. Moreover Saturn's rings sweep up much of the material which could be forced into Saturn's atmosphere by Field-Aligned currents (FAC's)

Nevertheless, Saturn's manifestation of aurora is very strong, indicating the presence of FAC's which drive the aurora.

Saturn also manifests the radio signals which are thought to arise when the aurora is being created
