This photograph shows a statue of the Roman god, Neptune. Neptune stands in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy. The statue is one of several by the artist, Bartolommeo Ammannati (1511-1592). Ammannati was born near Florence, studied in Venice and Rome and eventually returned home to work for the Medic family.
