Michael Clifford

Michael Clifford is an American astronaut who was born on October 13, 1952, in California. Before he became an astronaut, Clifford was a Army test pilot. He has logged over 3400 hours of flight time.

Clifford became an astronaut in 1990. He has spent over 665 hours in space on three spaceflights.

Clifford made his first spaceflight in 1992 aboard STS-53. This was a Department of Defense mission. In 1994, Clifford flew aboard STS-59. This mission studied the Earth's atmosphere.

Clifford flew aboard STS-76 in 1996. The crew conducted the third docking with the Russian space station Mir.
