Walt Cunningham

Walt Cunningham was an American astronaut who was born on March 16, 1932, in Iowa. Before he became an astronaut, Cunningham was a Naval pilot. He logged over 4500 hours of flight time.

Cunningham became an astronaut in 1964. He has spent over 263 hours in space on one spaceflight.

In 1968, Cunningham flew aboard the first manned Apollo flight, Apollo 7. During this mission, the crew performed several tests on the spacecraft in preparation for its future destination, the moon. The astronauts were the first in space to get sick. They all had colds!
