Yuri Gagarin
Yuri Gagarin is a Russian cosmonaut who was born on March 9, 1934, near
Moscow, Russia.
Gagarin became the first person in space when he flew aboard the Vostok
spacecraft in 1961. He orbited the Earth once on this historic flight.
The flight lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes.
