Bruce Melnick

Bruce Melnick was an American astronaut who was born on December 5, 1949, in New York. Before he became an astronaut, Melnick served with the Coast Guard.

Melnick became an astronaut in 1987. He has spent over 311 hours in space on two spaceflights.

In 1990, Melnick flew aboard STS-41. This mission deployed the Ulysses spacecraft. Ulysses went on to study the sun. Melnick made his second flight aboard STS-49 in 1992. This was the first flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Melnick left NASA in 1992.
