Pavel Popovich

Pavel Popovich is a cosmonaut who was born on October 5, 1930, in Uzin, Ukraine.

Popovich became a cosmonaut in 1960. He has spent over 19 days in space aboard 2 spaceflights. In 1962, Popovich flew aboard Vostok 4. This was the first group spaceflight. The spacecraft came within 5 miles of Vostok 3, which was orbiting Earth.

Popovich made his second flight in 1974 commanding Soyuz 14. The crew docked with the Salyut 3 space station and studied the Earth.
