Francis Scobee
Francis Scobee was an American astronaut who was born on May 19, 1939, in
Washington.
Before he became an astronaut, Scobee was a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War.
Scobee became an astronaut in 1978. He was killed in the Challenger
space shuttle explosion in 1986.
