Any computer with an Internet connection and browser can access Windows to the Universe free-of-charge.
Windows to the Universe makes use of many of the latest features of Web technology to provide animations, movies, applets and sound bytes to users. For best results, we recommend viewing our site with Netscape Navigator version 7.0 (or later versions), Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later versions), or any browser with Java capability. Apple's Quicktime, Macromedia's Flash and Shockwave, and MPEG player plugins are recommended, but not necessary, for viewing the majority of pages on the site. Most more recent browsers have built-in support for these file types so you don't need to download most of these plugins separately (the most common exceptions are QuickTime and Shockwave which you may need to download seperately).
In order to view/hear everything within our site, you might need to download and install one or more of these plugins. The following is a list of all the file formats used in Windows to the Universe, along with links to sites from which appropriate plugins may be found:
