States of Matter

This picture shows the four well-known states of matter: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.

You may know more about the states of matter than you think. Let's think about water as an example. When water is a solid, we call it ice. Water in its liquid state it is liquid water... water you can drink. Water in the gas state is called water vapor. When water boils or evaporates, it turns into water vapor.
